Ludvig van Beethoven – 16 or 17 December 1770. The exact date of his birth is unknown! German born Beethoven is possibly the most well-known classical composer that has ever lived.

Joseph Bodin de Boismortier – 23 December 1689. French Boismortier was a baroque composer of instrumental, opera ballets, cantatas, and vocal music

Johann Friedrich Burgmüller – 4 December 1806. More commonly known as Friedrich Burgmüller, was born in Germany and became a pianist and composer.

Domenico Cimarosa – 17 December 1749. An Italian composer of both comic and serious operas.

César Franck – 10 December 1822. Franck was born in Liége which is now part of Belgium.

Edward MacDowell -18 December 1860. Famous for his suites such as “Woodland Sketches”, MacDowell was an American pianist and composer.

Pietro Mascagni – 7 December 1863. Mascagni is a famous Italian operatic composer best known for his masterpiece Cavalleria Rusticana.

Giacomo Puccini – 22 December 1858. Puccini was an Italian composer best known for his operas such as Madame Butterfly and Turandot.
