His most popular piece is&nbsp;Zigeunerweisen along with his four books of Spanish Dances and the Carmen Fantasy<em> (which he uses themes from Bizets&#8217;s Carmen).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Find Sarasate sheet music for Op.21 No.1 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.music-scores.com\/sheet-music\/sarasate.php\">Malaguena <\/a>on music-scores.com.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-early-life\">Early Life<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Sarasate was born in Pamplona famous for the bull running festival <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spain.info\/en\/calendar\/fiestas-san-fermin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">San Ferm\u00edn<\/a>.  His father was in the military and taught his son violin lessons at the age of five.  His first public performance was three years later.  Sarasate went to Madrid to study with violinist Manuel Rodriguez S\u00e1ez, proving popular with the court of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/biography\/Isabella-II-queen-of-Spain\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Queen Isabel II<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the age of twelve he travelled to Paris with his mother.  However, this ended in tragedy as she died of a heart attack on the journey, then Sarasate was diagnosed with cholera.  The Spanish consul nursed him back to health then financed his trip to Paris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-career\">Career<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Sarasate was accepted at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservatoiredeparis.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Paris Conservatoire<\/a>.  Five years later he went on to win their most prestigious prize, thus launching his career. Starting in 1859, he embarked on many world tours.  However, he always returned to Pamplona for the San Fermin Festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He influenced a generation of composers such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.music-scores.com\/blog\/saint-saens\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Camille Saint-Sa\u00ebns<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.music-scores.com\/blog\/bruch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Max Bruch<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.naxos.com\/person\/Edouard_Lalo_21846\/21846.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u00c9douard Lalo<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.music-scores.com\/blog\/dvorak\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Anton\u00edn Dvo\u0159\u00e1k<\/a> who wrote some of their most famous pieces for him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His most performed works are his Spanish Dances Op. 21, 22, 23, 26.
