{"id":367,"date":"2018-03-26T11:31:48","date_gmt":"2018-03-26T11:31:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/music-scores.com\/blog\/?p=367"},"modified":"2019-10-29T10:19:44","modified_gmt":"2019-10-29T10:19:44","slug":"recently-added-sheet-music-23-march","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.music-scores.com\/blog\/recently-added-sheet-music-23-march\/","title":{"rendered":"Recently Added Sheet Music &#8211; 23 March"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This week Anne has created 4 arrangements of <strong>Corelli&#8217;s Trio Sonata in G minor, Op. 2 No.12.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.music-scores.com\/midi.php?sheetmusic=Corelli_Op2_No12_Wind3\">Flute, oboe &amp; bassoon &amp; Harpsichord<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.music-scores.com\/midi.php?sheetmusic=Corelli_Op2_No12_2flsfg\">2 flutes &amp; bassoon &amp; Harpsichord<\/a>\u00a0<em><br \/>\n<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.music-scores.com\/midi.php?sheetmusic=Corelli_Op2_No12_2clsbcl\">2 clarinets &amp; bass clarinet\u00a0<\/a><em><br \/>\n<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.music-scores.com\/midi.php?sheetmusic=Corelli_Op2_No12_String3\">2 violins &amp; cello<\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>All this arrangements include optional harpsichord or piano for a quartet<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Arcangelo Corelli<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.music-scores.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Arcangelo_Corelli_portrait_by_Hugh_Howard_1697.jpg\" alt=\"This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is Arcangelo_Corelli_portrait_by_Hugh_Howard_1697.jpg\" width=\"191\" height=\"256\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Arcangelo Corelli was an Italian violinist and composer during the Baroque period.\u00a0 He was born in Italy on 17 February 1653 &#8211; a full generation before Handel and Bach.<\/p>\n<p>Despite not creating the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Concerto_grosso\">concerto grosso<\/a> principle Corelli was the composer that brought it to the forefront and made it popular.\u00a0 For those of you like myself who is not familiar with the term it is used when a small group of soloists play alongside a full orchestra.<\/p>\n<p>The 4 new arrangements to our site are from Corelli&#8217;s Trio Sonata.\u00a0 A trio sonata is written for three solo instruments.\u00a0 Corelli wrote Opus 1 (1681), Opus 2 (1685) ,Opus 3 (1689)\u00a0 &amp; Opus 4 (1694).\u00a0 His works served as models for future composers including Bach and Handel.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly Corelli rarely went above D on the highest string, on the odd occasion stretching to E. &#8230; the story goes that\u00a0he refused to play a passage that extended to A in altissimo in the overture to Handel&#8217;s oratorio\u00a0<i><a title=\"The Triumph of Time and Truth\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Triumph_of_Time_and_Truth\">The Triumph of Time and Truth<\/a>\u00a0<\/i>, and felt seriously offended when the composer (32 years his junior) played the note!<\/p>\n<p>He died at the age of 59 in Rome, a very rich man who&#8217;s only indulgence was in valuable art and fine violins.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a017 Feb 1653 &#8211; 18 Jan 1713<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We currently have <a href=\"http:\/\/www.music-scores.com\/corelli\/composer.php\">15 arrangements by Corelli<\/a> on our site<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This week Anne has created 4 arrangements of Corelli&#8217;s Trio Sonata in G minor, Op. 2 No.12.
