S. Gilbert.<\/p>\n<p>This comic opera tell the story of Frederic, a young man in his 21st year.\u00a0 He is released from his apprenticeship to a band of Pirates and is obligated to them until his 21st birthday.\u00a0 However Frederic realises that having been born on 29th February his actual 21st birthday is not for another 63 years. His sense of duty bounds him to the pirates.\u00a0 Fortunately he meets Mabel the Major- General Stanley&#8217;s daughter who\u00a0faithfully agrees to wait for him.<\/p>\n<p>It was an instant success when it opened in New York on\u00a0 31 December 1879 and ran for 3 months.\u00a0 It debuted in London on 3 April 1880 where it hosted 363 performances.<\/p>\n<p>It is still a very popular opera today.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.music-scores.com\/midi.php?sheetmusic=Sullivan_Pirates_Policemans_brass5\">Brass Quintet<\/a>\u00a0(Tuba, accompanied by Horn, Trumpet, Euphonium and Trombone)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.music-scores.com\/midi.php?sheetmusic=Sullivan_Pirates_Policemans_brass4\">Brass Quartet<\/a> (2 Trumpets, Euphonium and Tuba)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.music-scores.com\/midi.php?sheetmusic=Sullivan_Pirates_Policemans_TenorSax\">Tenor Sax &amp; Piano Duo<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.music-scores.com\/midi.php?sheetmusic=Sullivan_Pirates_Policemans_Bassoon\">Bassoon &amp; Piano Duo<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.music-scores.com\/midi.php?sheetmusic=Sullivan_Pirates_Policemans_BassClarinet\">Bass Clarinet &amp; Piano Duo<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.music-scores.com\/midi.php?sheetmusic=Sullivan_Pirates_Policemans_BariSax\">Baritone Sax &amp; Piano Duo<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.music-scores.com\/midi.php?sheetmusic=Sullivan_Pirates_Policemans_wind5\">Wind Quintet<\/a> (Bass Clarinet, accompanied by Flute, Oboe, Clarinet and Bassoon)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This week Anne has created 7 new arrangements for The Pirates of Penzance; A Policeman&#8217;s Lot (is not a Happy One) composed by Arthur Sullivan and the lyrics were created by W.
